Movies to Hate with a Passion

Krystle and I just watched one of the most horrendous things I have ever seen, charmingly entitled Eat Pray Love (2010, with Julia Roberts). I hated this movie from just after the opening credits, though I will admit that my utter lack of sympathy for the main character likely comes more from me than any egregious issues with her.

Regardless, this spurred me to make a list of the recent movies that I hate, with a passion, to warn you, our friends in the blogosphere, before your precious evenings are ruined. Feel free to spew your own cinematic venom in the comments.

In no particular order, and without explanation:

Eat Pray Love (2010)
Atonement (2007)
Sex and the City (all of them)
Green Zone (2010)
The Departed (2006)
The Time Traveler's Wife (2009)
Anger Management (2003)
Bride Wars (2009)

  1. your list is odd jesse.

why you would even begin to think eat pray love, sex and the city, bride wars or the time traveler's wife would have the potential to be good movies is beyond me. i'm unsure why you dislike the departed so much, but i mean it won best picture, you have to give it SOME credit (aka not putting putting it on the same level as bride wars with anne-freakin-hathaway)

in any case, atonement pissed me off as well. i would add to your list a few of my own:

    anchorman
charlie and the chocolate factory (2005)
    pirates of the caribbean 3
    contact

  2. Thanks to your sister, I had to watch those four. Atonement and The Departed I hated because [SPOILER ALERT] everyone dies! All of them. At the end all I could think was "Awesome, I was hoping to spend my Friday night watching everyone I care about die."

I can't believe you would diss Contact. It is absolutely a sentimental favourite of mine. I'm not sure if we can be friends anymore.

  3. Meh, I'd have to rewatch the Departed before I judged it. I was only half watching when I saw it the first time.

Also, I hate contact because I absolutely hate hate hateeeeeeee jodie foster and its truly difficult for me to like any movies that she stars in.

  4. lol...i haven't watched any of the chick flicks, but I did like The Departed (although yes, I did not like the fact that EVERYONE died). I'll add to the list the new Alice in Wonderland~just didn't do anything for me. Matthew is not completely unkown for falling asleep in a movie or 2, but usually its not by choice. But after the first 10 minutes of said movie he said, "You can keep watching this if you want, but I'm going to sleep." I did watch it, but not sure if I should have. Didn't like C&CF either Rach.
